Yaakov Norowitz is an International Master and professional chess coach from New Jersey, United States.
IM Norowitz’s high-caliber coaching skills come as a result of over 20 years of study, dedication, and work with other great influential coaches. Having his immense talent recognized at the age of 9 by his first chess teacher, it wasn’t long before he was able to harness his raw chess power to defeat a master-level opponent at the age of 12. With his chess aptitude confirmed, he went on to study under the legendary Grandmaster Roman Dzindzichashvili, who helped him attain his National Master title by the age of 16.
And sure enough, the tournament successes soon followed. After achieving norms in the Philadelphia World Open, Bahamas Open, and Reykjavik Open, he secured his International Master title. But perhaps these were not even his most prestigious - IM Norowitz has been the New Jersey Chess Champion, 5-time World Open Blitz Champion, and Millionaire Blitz Chess Open winner (with a perfect 10/10, no less). He’s even legendary players like Magnus Carlsen, Garry Kasparov, and Hikaru Nakamura in blitz games!
Now, IM Norowitz works hard to give back to the chess community by coaching his students to realize their own potential. Conducting both chess camps and 1-on-1 lessons in person and virtually, he aims to enlighten chess players of all ages with his unique approach to learning: Dacha.
