It's one of IM John Bartholomew's favourite books!
Learning motifs and solving tactics is one thing. But transferring that to real-life games is something different entirely.In this trail-blazing course,
an addition to Chessable specially-requested by IM John Bartholomew, experienced chess trainer FM Emmanuel Neiman presents a method to detect the seven main signals that help you to determine the moment you must start looking for a win.
This is not just another tactics course but a manual in which Neiman teaches his method how to interpret the signals that tactics are about to occur. Recognizing tactical ideas
before they become clear on the board.
Learn the key signals that tactics will occur
As Neiman notes, during a game you are on your own. Nobody will whisper in your ear that you have reached a position that is, in fact, a tactical blow.
What you need is a Chess Tactics Antenna - and the idea of this work is to provide the reader with that antenna.
I truly believe basically every single chess player will find something to benefit from, if not in a big way, definitely even in a small way. For very, very advanced players I still think there is stuff they will take from this book, but many of you will take a ton of stuff from this book.
- IM John Bartholomew
Neiman lays out seven filters (or signals) that will allow a chess player to detect tactical possibilities.
The two main points are:
- Follow carefully the necessary steps of reflection (5 phases outlined in the Introduction);
- Detect the signals for you and for your opponent (Part I and II).
In a course full of exercises, study positions, model games and practical advice, Neiman provides a set of tools that enables the average club player to determine the moment he must look for a win.
It is a skill you can not do without.
