Are you ready for this Reti?
For the first time on Chessable, GM Yaroslav Zherebukh and FM Dalton Perrine present a repertoire on the Reti: Nimzo-Larsen Attack. It’s a flexible hypermodern repertoire that'll take your opponents out of theory much faster than "traditional" first moves (1.e4, 1.d4, 1.c4).
You’ll start out by playing 1.Nf3, perhaps the most flexible first move for White, yet one that has
purpose. You hold your cards close to you, developing a piece and controlling central squares, while Black can only guess what setup you're going for.
On almost any try Black throws at you, you will play 2.b3, preparing your dark-squared bishop to be a long-range force to be reckoned with on b2. You maintain flexibility on where to place your central pawns.
And even if you forget a move or two, there's nothing to worry about. You are all but guaranteed playable positions - something that can't be said about the sharpest lines of 1.e4.
Whether you make it your main repertoire for White or add it to your arsenal as a surprise weapon, this opening has serious potential.
What you can expect:
🔑
Enrich your chess knowledge and get a more versatile chess toolbox - by learning this low-theory setup, you'll learn about new pawn structures and plans not seen in other "typical" openings - leaving opponents unprepared
🔑
Get maximum long-range bishop power in multiple setups - with double fianchettoed bishops acting like snipers across both sides of the board
🔑
Delay your central pawn break with d4 or e4 if Black plays 1…c5 - let Black choose what setup they're going for before you commit your central pawns
🔑
Neutralize the sidelines - get a sizeable advantage easily against objectively dubious moves like 1…b6 and limit Black's options after 1…Nc6 by transposing into a Chigorin
For the busy player at any level that still wants to fight for the advantage
When author GM Yaroslav Zherebukh, among the top 150 players in the world, was asked by a student for a simple opening with little memorization, he immediately thought of the Reti.
Combined with 2.b3, he found this to be a powerful attacking weapon that leaves White's structure virtually uncompromised.
Now he's teamed up with FM Dalton Perrine, an experienced coach with a relentless work ethic, to bring you
The Reti: Nimzo-Larsen Attack.
So if you're ready to play the Reti in the most flexible, easy-to-understand, and fighting way, you'll want to pick the course up.
