Something evil's lurking from the dark
Welcome to one of the most fearsome openings - the dreaded Halloween Gambit!
It is a gambit so vile that no Grandmaster has yet dared to try it by the light of a serious over the board tournament.
But... make no mistake - in the depths of the deep dark internet it has been known to snare many an unwary denizen.
Trick... or treat?
The bloodcurdling Halloween Gambit starts after the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nxe5 Nxe5 and is about putting the spooks on your opponent and making him or her... JUMP!
Surprise them with:
🎃 The "Not a Good Idea" Variation;
🎃 Alternatively, The "No Fun" Defense, aka the "Try This Instead" variation;
🎃 The Wimp Out Variation, if you're too scared;
🎃 Or... the terrifying Mainline Halloween Gambit.
After all, in chess computer assuring you that you're 'safe' is like thinking because the bad guy is lying in a pool of blood he'll never return.
But in this movie, you're the bad guy and you're coming back from the dead. Mwahaha! Mwahahahahahaha!
So come with us into a strange, dark, twisted realm where up is down, left is right, and madness shall reign lest we follow a narrow, perilous path of chess righteousness.
Let's begin - play the Halloween Gambit if you dare!
