Scorch The Scotch!

Return Fire: The Scotch For Black by
CM Juan Almaguer. This complete anti-Scotch arsenal is Almaguer’s personal repertoire, and he’s spent months tailoring it for over-the-board games.
The sharp and unbalanced Mieses Variation forms the core of this
Short & Sweet sampler…
And here’s how it works:
After entering the Scotch territory with
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4, you will disrupt the equilibrium with
3…exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6. Then ask White tough questions after
5.Nxc6 bxc6 6.e5 Qe7!
The traffic jam on the enemy kingside gives
you more than enough time to
whip up a storm
Your last move forces the opponent to defend the pawn with
7.Qe2. Which not only clogs their kingside, but keeps their king in the center, too.
While White tries to untangle their awkward pieces, you’ll mobilize your queenside with tempo… castle in that direction… and blast open the center before that juicy target on e1 evacuates to safety!

Black delivers death on the
dark squares in 14 quick moves
The rest of the repertoire meets other variations White can play — with the same uncompromising energy of the Mieses. For example:
🔥 Against the Four Knights (5.Nc3), you’ll give up the bishop pair in exchange for lightning-fast development. Then you’ll power through enemy defenses, and invade the 2nd rank.
🔥 You’ll also shut down premature f7-attacks in the Schmidt Variation (5.Bc4) — then take over the reins by hammering White’s weakness on f2.
🔥 Aggressive prophylaxis will be your main strategy against the Scotch Gambit (5.c3) and Goring Gambit (4.c3). So when the dust settles, you’ll enjoy the active piece play White so desires when they gambit the pawn.
Plus, you’ll also get an alternative weapon in the Classical Scotch (
4…Bc5). These extra variations will not only make you less predictable…
They’ll also lure White into quiet-looking positions — then hit them with little tactics to
net big positional gains!
Everything’s packed into
12 MoveTrainer® variations and
32 minutes of video. So you can pick up the basics and start winning with the Mieses Variation on the
same day if you like.
