Extinguish the English with the Reversed Sicilian
Playing against 1.c4 can be very uncomfortable. It always seems like White can develop flexibly and harmoniously, and Black has to watch his step, or else get punished.
But now
you can punish White with the shrewdly combative
Reversed Sicilian.
In the Reversed Sicilian, you’ll play 1...e5 and focus on rapid development and central control. You’ll fight for space and activity, and if White tries to deny you...oh, there will be consequences.
With this repertoire, material concerns take a backseat to dynamism and initiative. If White takes you up on your sacrifice, payback will be double and ice cold with the counterattacks you’ll launch!
Though sacrifice material you may, this is no gambit repertoire for club play. This is a
lifetime tournament repertoire that can be employed at
any level. If it has a Tal-like feeling to it, that’s because it’s brought to you by
Grandmaster Arturs Neiksans, head coach of the
Riga Chess School. The 4-time Latvian champion and FIDE-accredited chess coach is all about aggressive, positional play and piece activity.
In fact, GM Neiksans created a comprehensive response to the English in his 1,000-line course,
Lifetime Repertoires: Reversed Sicilian. And to give you a flavor of this warrior’s response to 1.c4, he’s offering up
27 critical lines in this Short & Sweet course.
You’ll learn what to do when White plays:
♞ Early g3/fianchetto setups
♞ Two Knights setups starting with 2. Nc3
♞ Four Knights setups with Nc3 and Nf3
♞ Less common variations such as 2. b3 and 2. d3
Though the course is Short & Sweet, these lines are plenty lengthy so you can learn not only the opening moves, but also get a good feel for the aggressive and fun middle game plans that come along with them.
