Step under the Dragon’s Wing
Roast 1.e4 with the Black Pieces
Open Sicilians can get wild and aggressive - that’s why we love them.
And if you want to keep them that way and not play into White's theoretical lines,
GM Simon Williams and
IM David Martínez have just the surprise weapon for you.
It’s called the
Dragon Sicilian Wing Attack, and you can sample its spicy goodness free with this
Short & Sweet course.
This is a Dragon Sicilian that refuses to play into White’s hands. Instead of the immediate kingside fianchetto, you’ll play an early …h5!? throwing a wrench into White’s usual development scheme.

In this case, you’re happy to give White first move - because you’ll be dictating the game based on their play. In some lines, you’ll trade off White’s d4 knight and play Bh6, slicing across the c1-h6 diagonal. In others, you’ll go for the typical Bg7. And castling? Eh, maybe.
Here’s some of what you can expect with the ensuing play:
🔥
All-out queenside attacks. If your opponent castles queenside, good luck to them. With the bishop free to go to h6, sniping the c1 square, and an open c-file for a rook to do the same, White’s king better cancel Christmas!
🔥
Development out of left field - literally! In many lines, you’ll push the h-pawn all the way to h4 for an h5 rook lift which will cut to the queenside and make White’s life miserable.
🔥
Unorthodox positions that’ll force White to think. It’s not just something fun and different to play - you’ll be hard pressed to find any opponent prepared for the attacking plans in this opening!
With the king of attacking chess and - the Ginger GM himself - as your guide, you can rest assured the lines in this variation are as fiery as the color of his beard. And with IM David “Divis” Martínez’s always insightful analysis combined, you have the power of two of the most popular and prolific chess instructors behind you.
