It has been a long time coming - but Chessable finally has its first female community author. And what an excellent course she has produced.Mineriva, an experienced chess writer and trainer from South Africa, takes you deep into the delights of the Queen's Gambit Accepted.
Avoid the classical lines - but be better prepared
She shares her pet repertoire against
1.d4 d5 2.c4 that moves away from the classical lines which allow White to "chicken out" into dull symmetrical Queen-less middle games or early endgames.
In Mineriva's repertoire, boring play is not an option for White. She draws the lighter color into unbalanced structures where the better-prepared player will have the advantage.
And, of course, with this repertoire we are the better-prepared player.
This repertoire was also chosen in communication with IM Christof Sielecki, aka ChessExplained, who generously shared some of his variations. This collaboration resulted in an impasse between our pet lines. Now we need your help to decide. You need to read the book and comment which pet line you prefer the Linares Variation or the Materialistic Variation.
- Mineriva
Needless to say, the QGA is a timeless defence for Black. Yet it has developed a reputation for producing tiresome games won by the player who stays awake the longest.
Spassky did it against Fisher and recently (2019) world champion Magnus Carlsen did it against the elite Azerbaijani Grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedayrov.
Mineriva's repertoire challenges this. What you get is a set of wonderfully clear and pin-point descriptions that will trigger your memory and get you drilling down into White's attack.
