🏆 Shortlisted for Best Strategy Course
& Course of the Year 2021 🏆
Your Polgar training continues!
Welcome to Master your Chess with Judit Polgar, part 2.
If you studied
part 1 of this course, you’d already have a good grasp of the three phases of the game, basic strategic concepts, and how to calculate correctly.
Now, it’s time to go one step further.
In this installment, Judit and Andras go into an essential chess theme:
Attacking!
A relentless attacking style was Judit’s trademark. There are good reasons she was always keen on aggressive play, and regardless of your level, those apply to you.
Attacking is a lot of fun! It’s somewhat easier than defending, and it puts pressure on our opponents. Opponents under pressure tend to make blunders, so we should seize the opportunity to attack whenever we can!
By studying Judit’s own games as well as from other leading players, you’ll delve into three of the most common attacking situations: Attacking uncastled Kings, attacking opposite-sided Kings, and attacking same-sided Kings.
A good attacker needs big tactical muscles!
To get the best learning experience, drill the tactic exercises chapters! They cover typical attacking themes related to the attack, plus one that will bring you many victories where there seem to be none:
unexpected moves.
But tactics are only an expression of good strategy, so similarly to Part 1, you’ll deepen your understanding of two common strategical themes:
weakness of a color complex and
opposite color-bishop.
These are common themes that often have tactical connotations, but their treatment differs depending on the phase of the game. So your authors prepared a masterclass for both of them, in the middlegame and the endgame.
