Sadler, King And Jones: Meet The Chessable Authors Going To ChessFest on July 7

Table of Contents

Do you have a favorite Chessable author you’d like to meet? ChessFest on July 7 might be your chance to grab hold of him or her and ask about their course.

Thousands of people, including some of Britain’s top players, are expected to descend on London’s Trafalgar Square for the event which takes over the city’s iconic landmark from 11am to 6pm.

Now in its fourth year, ChessFest has become a real highlight of the UK chess calendar and is put on by the charity Chess in Schools and Communities with the support of XTX Markets, Westminster Council and the Mayor of London.

This year, several Chessable authors are lined up to visit, including GMs Jonathan Rowson and Matthew Sadler, Woman International Master Natasha Regan, IM Richard Palliser. Plenty more have been invited—such as GMs Simon Williams and David Howell—but we’ll have to wait to see who turns up on the day.

Our friends from ChessKid will also be there along with some of the best young talent in Britain. Bodhana Sivanandan, the nine-year-old prodigy who has taken the chess world by story this year, will be making an appearance along with 15-year-old IM Shreyas Royal, who is on the brink of becoming England’s youngest ever grandmaster. The world’s number-one under-9 player Ethan Pang and the fast-rising Supratit Banerjee, the world number-seven in the under-10 category.

As a visitor there’s plenty to enjoy as the UK chess community gets together. You may get the chance to take on a top grandmaster in a simultaneous display, get a free chess lesson, or watch the performance of a famous game played out by 32 actors on a live Alice Through the Looking Glass-themed chessboard.

Children can also take part in live linkup challenge matches between ChessFest on Trafalgar Square and our sister ChessFest event in Hull.

So, we’re encouraging all our Chessable members to get down there if you can and help show what a great community we have. Maybe you may even meet some fellow Chessable fans there?
