Today we announce a significant coup for the Chessable blog by unveiling the first of Malcolm Pein’s daily online chess columns.

Malcolm has been writing for The Daily Telegraph on a very regular basis for over 30 years. The printed versions will still continue to appear in the newspaper. However, we have secured the exclusive rights for the online versions.

The daily chess column is, of course, merely the tip of Malcolm’s enormous chess iceberg. He is the founder and Chief Executive of UK charity Chess in Schools and Communities, creator of the London Chess Classic, an International Master, publisher of CHESS Magazine since 1992, founder and owner of the London Chess Centre and…well, stay tuned for further details, as Malcolm will soon be the subject of one of our in-depth interviews.

Malcolm and I have been friends for at least a couple of decades. We have also worked together very closely for Chess in Schools and Communities from the very start in 2009.

I am proud to be the one to unveil Malcolm’s debut column for the Chessable blog.

Malcolm Pein will return tomorrow for the next instalment in what is going to be a very long-running series.

Meanwhile, if you would like to play like Beth Harmon in today’s featured game, you may like our Chessable course on the Two Knights Variation of the Caro-Kann Defense.
