Halloween is fast approaching, and to commemorate the occasion, Chessable and Chess24 are hosting a unique tournament, the Monster Mystery Bash Tournament.
This tournament is unlike any other you’ve seen. Chessable authors and Super GMs alike will be playing with their masks on, and you will have the opportunity to try to guess who is who if they are knocked out of the tournament.
Each player will play under a spooky persona in a tournament that will take place on Sunday, October 30th. If you correctly guess the player, you will be entered into chances to win special prizes from Chessable.
However, you don’t have to just sit back and watch the tournament, as Chessable will be holding a Halloween Qualifier Arena tournament on Lichess, in which the top two players will get a chance to play against Chessable authors in the Monster Mystery Bash Tournament.
In addition to a chance to qualify for the Monster Mystery Bash Tournament, there are cash prizes for the top three players. First place will qualify for the tournament with a $500 cash prize, second place will qualify with a $300 cash prize, and third place will take home a $200 cash prize.
The arena qualifier tournament will take place on Sunday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m. CET (12:00 p.m EDT). To sign up for the qualifier tournament, follow this link.
The main Monster Mystery Bash Tournament will take place on Sunday, October 30th, at 8:00 pm CET (2:00 p.m EDT) and will be an 8-round knockout tournament played at a 3+2 blitz time control.
All players must hide themselves wearing a Halloween mask during the game and only reveal their identity when losing the match.
There are more than $5000 in prizes for the main event, so be sure to check it out. If you want to get caught up, check out last year’s spooky event featuring top talent.
If you’re considering competing, you’ll want to get in on Chessable’s huge Halloween sale, with over 150 courses on offer. You can get a new course, for up to 50% off, so you can get yourself a ticket to the Halloween bash on October 30th with a few opening lines prepared for game day.
