Grandmaster Ramesh Ramachandran, better known as Ramesh R.B., is one of the most respected and accomplished chess trainers in the world.
GM Ramesh’s extraordinary skill as a trainer was shaped by his own training at a time when books, computers, and other chess study resources were practically non-existent in India. This led him to devise his own original training methods, the success of which he convincingly proved in his tournament career. Highlights in his resume include a 1st-place finish in the British Chess Championship and Commonwealth Championship, and two trips to the Olympiad representing India.
Retiring from tournament play in 2008, GM Ramesh moved on to arguably his true calling in life: coaching. Since the start of his coaching career, he has trained some of the biggest stars in India and the entire chess world. His students include the likes of young super GM Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, American chess personality GM Daniel Naroditsky, and the ever impressive GM Adhiban Baskaran.
One of his greatest coaching achievements came in 2022 when he coached the India-2 team in the 44th Chess Olympiad. The team, composed of India’s youngest and most promising talent, finished with a bronze medal, ahead of favorites like India-1 and the United States.
GM Ramesh now brings his training talent to Chessable, where his instant hit Improve Your Chess Calculation is adapted to Chessable’s MoveTrainer technology, complete with video walkthroughs by the living legend himself. Check it out below and stay tuned for more from GM Ramesh R.B.
