Jorden van Foreest is a Grandmaster from the Netherlands and is currently the second-top-ranked player in his home country.
Known for his enterprising and dynamic play, Van Foreest has a knack for deep analysis of openings, as evidenced in his debut course for Chessable, Lifetime Repertoires: Tarrasch Defense. Further proof of his top-notch opening knowledge is the fact that he served as Magnus Carlsen's second in the 2021 World Championship.
A young up-and-coming player, Van Foreest received all his grandmaster norms in 2015 at the ripe age of 16. He has not failed to impress on the elite chess circuit either, with a peak FIDE rating of 2715 and having won a litany of important tournaments, including the European Youth Championship U14 in 2013 and the Dutch Championship in 2016.
His most impressive accolade, however, came in 2021, when he won the prestigious Tata Steel Chess Tournament, a tournament considered the "Wimbledon of chess". In the tournament, he edged out some of the best players to have ever played the game, including Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja, Fabiano Caruana, and Anish Giri.
As of December 2022, Van Foreest remains a top 50 player in the world and shows no signs of slowing down. So be sure to check out his courses and stay tuned for more.
