Romain Edouard is a former super grandmaster from France with a peak rating of 2702 FIDE.
Edouard prides himself on his razor-sharp attacking skills. This aggressive playstyle helped him win a string of tough open tournaments such as Zaragoza 2008, Bad Wiessee 2008, and Andorra 2009. He eventually cemented his status as a grandmaster at around age 19. But that was only the beginning.
In 2012, Edouard jointly won the French Chess Championship alongside Christian Bauer, Etienne Bacrot, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Later in the same year, he also won the Al Ain Classic by edging out Vachier-Lagrave in the tiebreaks. Edouard also found success in the 2014 Dubai Open and 2015 World Open, winning outright and tying for first respectively.
Later on, Edouard became the second of other legendary attackers, including World Champion Veselin Topalov and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. This move helped him expand his opening knowledge and coaching skills. Both of which helped him thrive in the next part of his chess career.
Today, Edouard is best known for his work as an author. He's the man behind a four-part series on practical calculation and decision making... all of which are on Chessable. He also published a repertoire against the English Opening, which is based on a variation he himself has played successfully.
