FIDE Master Mikhail Belous hails from Ukraine — one of the strongest chess countries in the world. Yet even when surrounded by bright chess stars, Belous' achievements still impresses.
Belous picked up the game from his mother when he was five years old, and he's been competing in tournaments since then. He won the Ukrainian U20 chess champion in 2016. The same year also saw him take home bronze from the European Youth U18 Team Chess Championship.
Fast forward to today, Belous sports a 2362 FIDE rating and two international master norms.
As a chess fan, Belous loves replaying Rubinstein's positional masterpieces. As a player, however, he approaches the board with a dynamic, punchy playstyle... with the King's Indian and Sicilian Defense as his favorite openings.
Belous is also a chess coach with a bachelor's degree in psychology. The latter has helped him tailor his coaching approach to best fit the student. And if you check out his Chessable repertoires, you might find his recommendations not only easy to understand... but just as easy to apply in your games.
