Grandmaster Daniel King knows how to rock the chess board and the commentary booth.
This former musician is one of the most popular chess presenters in the world. Rising to fame as a commentator during the 1993 World Championship on British television, he went on to cover other prestigious chess events such as Garry Kasparov vs. Deep Blue and Garry Kasparov vs. The World.
But his media talent is not limited to the screen by any means. GM King has written columns for numerous chess publications, perhaps most notably the “How Good Is Your Chess?” column in CHESS Magazine - which served as the inspiration to his Chessable course by the same name. He has also published several books on chess improvement, both in English and German.
Despite his busy schedule, the rockstar grandmaster still somehow finds the time to play competitively in tournaments. In addition to producing strong results in the Sydney Open, European Championships, and Dortmund chess events, he has even won the prestigious Bunratty Masters, a coveted achievement of any top international chess player.
Now, you can learn his rock-n’-roll style of chess on Chessable, with courses like his Tournament Ready series or cutting-edge opening course, King’s Kalashnikov Sicilian. Be sure to check out all of his brilliant Chessable works below:
