Boris Avrukh is an Israeli grandmaster, coach, and author.
GM Avrukh’s accomplished career started from a young age, making his worldwide debut with a bang as U12 World Champion. Achieving his International Master title at the age of 15 and GM title just 4 years later, it was clear GM Avrukh had a bright future in the world of chess - one that he continues to realize with each tournament he wins and each course he publishes.
In addition to winning the 1990 U12 World Championship, GM Avrukh has twice won the national Israeli Chess Championship. He has also been a consistent and solid member of the Israeli team on the Chess Olympiads, participating in six of them and taking down medals repeatedly. He has also won several prestigious chess tournaments, including the Biel Chess Festival event and Parisian Chess Championship, just to name two.
Though now participating in fewer tournaments, GM Avrukh remains an active presence in the chess community as an author and instructor, coaching both up-and-coming and accomplished players. He has worked as a coach to such chess stars as former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Gelfand, Fabiano Caruana, among others.
