Jordan began playing chess on his 7th birthday when his father taught him how to play using a chess set carved by his grandfather.
Since the age of 17, he has represented Australia in international chess events in Malaysia, Yugoslavia, Mexico, and China. In 1974, he won the Australian Junior Championships.
He has also been the Victorian Champion, Australian Correspondence Champion, the 2017 South Australian Chess Champion, and the 2019 Australian Senior Champion.
Jordan has been president of the Melbourne Chess Club, one of the oldest chess clubs in the world. He is an enthusiastic chess software programmer who has taught and written manuals for chess as well as IT and lateral thinking.
In 2022, Jordan made his Chessable debut with Checkmate Puzzles for Beginners
