The follow up to my beginner's blitz repertoire for White. It has proven to be quite a bit more work!
As with the other repertoire, the emphasis has been on attacking chances and practical score rather than perfect soundness. Nonetheless, I'd be happy to use almost all of the lines over the board. I have included a fair amount of new analysis, especially in the rarer lines.
A summary of the lines:
Against e4, we play the Alekhine's Defense. It is much better than its reputation and scores particularly well at lower levels. With a little practice you can almost guarantee you will understand the positions better than your opponents. And whilst I have had to go main line against the 4-pawns attack, we have nice surprise weapons against the main line, 4 Nf3.
Against 1 d4, c4, I offer a modern interpretation of the Benko. Rather than just sitting on a structural edge, we very frequently blow up the centre with Bb7 and e6. I also suggest an alternative move order - something whacky. Welcome to the mad, bad world of the ...a6 Indian. I can almost guarantee you that it is *not* sound - just that it works very well in practice, even at quite high levels. Indeed, it was high level blitz games that I pinched the idea from. It comes in a variety of forms - I have tried to find the best ones.
In the meantime, I'm trying to cover most of the major d4 sidelines. In particular I have given 4 (!) suggestions against the London system.
Against the English I have opted for the closed Sicilian Reversed. We get nice chances in all the lines, and in particular I have a very fun antidote to the Botvinnik system that should net a lot of points. When I tried it myself I won in 12 moves.
Against b3, I have opted for the trendy (and probably best) 1 b3 e5 2 Bb2 Nc6 3 e3 Nf6 4 Bb5 Bd6!?
Against b4, the system with 1...e5 2 Bb2 Bxb4.
Against f4, systems with g6. In particular we should relish playing against the "Stonewall".
Against 1 Nf3, 1 d3, 1 g3 and 1 e3 some quick suggestions about move orders.
And finally, a line against the dreaded Grob, and other nonsense.
I hope you all have as much fun with this repertoire as I do!
